Outdoor Vista Webcams

Folks have been asking about webcams for Internet based weather stations. Been trying to think of the best way to do this and think there are three main directions :

Get a cheap USB webcam and off we go
+cheap, fast, easy to hook up
-5ft cable limit, not really an outdoor solution, little iris control, med - low picture quality

Get a Dlink type IP based web cam or something like this
+ getting better here, ethernet hookup so can have longer cabling, contains a web server and serves up pics in variety of formats
- still limited by built-in cam resolution, might be some oddness in peeling pics off webserver for integrating into other web pages.

Get a purpose built outdoor video camera or this and hook up to a standard image capture card or outdoor cam with PCI
+ kinda liking this option - could get the better quality camera for outdoor use, hook up using coax so can go a good 50-100 ft without too much degradation and have better control over image quality
- bit more SI needed

Anyway, that's where I am. If anyone has got good results with outdoor vista webcams do let me know.
