Skype owns anything developed on the SkypeAPI

Worrysome, isn't it? I want to own the rights to any cool little thing I develope on Skype, even if I decide to open source it.

You can read this thread to get more info....

Skype owns anything developed on the SkypeAPI.

Despite some debate on the matter, it seems very clear that the intent of the agreement is for Skype to own whatever is built with its API.

They will either have to back off of this, or they will keep it and it will be a major mistake. Skype has been very good about developing its user community. Now they face the test of whether they can foster an ecosystem.

I'm glad someone raised this issue. I'm tired of being the only one to notice Skype uses a proprietary protocol controlled by a single company...
