Compact Flash Cards

I'm looking into getting new CF cards for my Canon G2 camera and can't believe how the prices have dropped over the last few years. Sandisk now have a 256mb for $64 at Costco for example. BUT, the market is segmenting into performance bands so will the cheaper ones adversely affect read and write times ? Rob Galbraith has done some amazingly detailed research into this - unfortunately my camera is not mentioned so I assume the speed of cheapest CF will probably not affect my (ancient now) G2 ! DPreview is also a wealth of info on all things about Digital Cameras - super reviews.
